the DD Amazing Race – stories from the finish line
On a beautiful spring day in September, 25 members of our awesome community took up the challenge of DD SRC’s Amazing Race… Sydney Park didn’t know what was coming.
We started by organising teams and setting out the ground rules, all while our fabulous SRC reps sneakily prepared the checkpoints and challenges.
Then the craziness began, with everybody doing their best to solve clues, complete challenges, and get those lungs pumping as they raced around the park.
From hands-free watermelon eating to solving puzzles, and perfecting that pose, our teams made their way across Sydney Park in our totally custom-made race (big thanks to Sally for all her planning and organising too!).
Although each team finished the course in record time (you guys were seriously fast!), there could only be one winner, and those lucky ducks took home a movie voucher and some DD merch.
Afterwards, we all strolled over the Darley St Bistro and enjoyed some well-deserved snacks and rinks. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
Here’s what some of our Racers had to say…
“The Amazing Race was awesome. It was so fun. Everyone had a great time with all the challenges, riddles and clues and it was a great way to meet new people and make new friends. I think the photo re-creation challenge was the hardest, but running to the Finish line came in close second!”- Ruby M
“The Amazing Race was amazing! It was really well spread out and fun. We should have it as a yearly thing and make the challenges a bit harder” – Ruby O
(…note taken Ruby O! Watch out in 2018 haha)
Thanks to all the DD students and their families who came along and made our Amazing Race so amazing. Big big thanks to Sally for getting her creativity on for all those clues and challenges!
And thanks to our DD SRC for planning and running these fun events that make the Dance Domain community so special. We were impressed and inspired by the positivity, energy, and teamwork displayed by everyone involved!
Looking forward to the next adventure….less than two weeks away!
